# Manage organisation members

Change members' roles, transfer ownership, and remove people or withdraw invitations.

## Before you begin

- You need the Owner or Admin role. [Roles and permissions](https://docs.atlas.ilionx.dev/reference/roles-and-permissions.md) lists what each role can do.
- Open **Manage** > **Members**.
- You can edit roles in ATLAS only when the organisation's roles are managed in ATLAS. If the dialog says "Roles are managed by your identity provider.", change the group mapping in the identity provider instead. See [Where roles come from](https://docs.atlas.ilionx.dev/concepts/organisations.md#where-roles-come-from).

## Change a member's roles

1. Open the menu on the member's row and select **Edit roles…**.
2. Choose the base role and tick any additional roles, **Account Manager** or **Auditor**.
3. Save.

## Transfer ownership

1. Open the menu on the row of the person who should become the Owner.
2. Select **Transfer** and confirm.

You can't remove or demote the Owner. In an organisation that uses SCIM, the new Owner must be an active member provisioned through SCIM.

## Delete a member or withdraw an invitation

1. Open the row menu and select **Delete**. For a pending invitation, the entry reads **Withdraw invitation**.
2. Review the impact shown, which covers API keys, space memberships and budget allocations, and confirm.

## Result

The change applies immediately. Deleting removes the person's ATLAS identity, and they return as a new user if they sign in again. Actions that aren't allowed, such as removing the Owner or yourself, appear disabled with the reason. If part of the deletion fails, the dialog says so, and retrying finishes it.
