Organise the space hierarchy#

Create, relabel, move and delete spaces so the tree mirrors your organisation.

Before you begin#

  • To create a space, you need the Owner or Admin role, or you manage the parent space.
  • To move a space, you need the Owner or Admin role.
  • Each space is labelled Division, Unit or Team. A Team can sit only under a Unit.
  • Roles and permissions lists what each role can do.

Create a space#

  1. In the sidebar, open Spaces.
  2. Select Create Space, or use the Add space row under a space to add a child in place.
  3. Enter a name, for example "Production", and an optional description.
  4. Choose a label and a parent. ATLAS offers only the parents that are valid for the label.
  5. Confirm.

Result: the new space appears in the tree under its parent, with its own slug.

Change a space's name, description or label#

  1. Open the space and stay on the General tab.
  2. Unlock editing with the lock icon.
  3. Edit the name, description or label. ATLAS disables labels that would break the nesting rules, and shows the reason.
  4. Save.

Move a space#

To move a space by drag and drop in the tree:

  1. Hover the space and drag it by its handle onto the new parent. ATLAS dims invalid targets.
  2. Read the confirmation. It shows how many child spaces move and warns that the budgets in the subtree reset.
  3. Confirm.

To move a space from the space itself:

  1. On the General tab, unlock editing.
  2. In Move Space, pick the new parent. The list leaves out the space and its descendants.
  3. Save.

Warning

Moving clears budgets

The whole subtree moves. Budgets of the moved space and all its descendants are cleared, Team allocation modes return to Pool, and member shares are deleted. Set them again afterwards with Set a space budget.

Delete a space#

  1. Open the space's General tab, or open the ⋮ menu in the tree and choose Delete space.
  2. Review the number of child spaces, members and API keys that ATLAS will remove.
  3. Type the space name to confirm.

Result: ATLAS removes the space, all its descendants, their memberships and allocations. You can't delete the organisation's root space.
