Chat with a model in the web app#

Send messages to a model from your browser with one of your own API keys. You don't need to set up a tool.

Before you begin#

  • You belong to an organisation. Without one, Chat redirects you away.
  • You have at least one active, unexpired API key that is bound to a space or project. See Create and manage your API keys. If you're not a member of any space or project, ask a space manager or an Admin to add you first.

Send a message#

  1. Open Chat in the Personal group of the sidebar.
  2. In the composer, open the key picker and choose an API key. Each key shows its acting context, "No context" or "Expired". ATLAS preselects the first usable key, preferring one that has a context.
  3. Wait for "Unlocking your API key…" to disappear.
  4. Open the model picker, search if you need to, and choose a model. The first model is preselected.
  5. Type a message, or select a starter (Summarise, Write code, Explain or Draft an email) to fill the composer, then edit it.
  6. Send the message. The answer streams in. When a model reports its reasoning, it appears in a collapsible Reasoning block.
  7. Reply to continue the conversation, or select New chat to start again. Chats stay in your browser for the current session. ATLAS still records each request in the audit log.

Result: the model's answer appears in the conversation, and ATLAS records the request against your key's space or project.

Review a chat later#

ATLAS records every chat request in the audit log, and you can see your own. In the Personal group of the sidebar, open My conversations to find the conversation. Open as chat replays the transcript read-only. It appears only when the provider stores prompts and responses. Otherwise you see the request details without the content. Troubleshooting#

What you see What to do
"This API key has expired — pick another one" Choose another key in the key picker.
"The gateway is out of reach — reconnecting…" Wait. The chat resumes when the gateway answers.
An error card under a partial answer Select Retry, or Copy details to send to your ilionx contact.
A tool call marked Not executed This is expected. The chat can't run tools.
